Travel Vaccination Clinic

If you are travelling abroad please make sure you contact us at least 8 weeks before the date of travel to arrange any vaccinations that may be necessary. Also check our information on planning prescriptions before travelling abroad.

Extra care is needed if your schedule is complicated such as backpacking or travelling to the Far East, India, Africa, Central or South America.

Please give us as much information as possible about exact locations and what you will be doing in these countries, as well as your accommodation and the type of transport you will be using.

A practice nurse will look at your travel needs and assess:

  • which vaccines you will need

  • what travel advice to give you

  • whether anti-malarial tablets are needed

Some immunisations involve a course of vaccines which can only be given effectively over a period of time and may involve 4 or 5 appointments. A good immunity against some diseases can take time to obtain.

Some travel vaccines are not included in the services provided by the NHS and you will need to contact a private travel clinic for these.

Currently the travel vaccines that are available on NHS prescription are:

  • Hepatitis A

  • Typhoid

  • Diphtheria

  • Tetanus

  • Polio
